Lately, I find myself running out of things to talk about.  I haven’t been to church in three weeks and I noticed that when I don’t take time out for worship I can have mental blocks.  It is so important to hear from God so that he will direct you. But, I went to church this past Sunday and now I’m back on track. My pastor was talking about how people make excuses for not paying their tithes or not going to church or doing something good for someone. Giving, whether financial or physically is so important.  You can’t just be a taker only in this life. If you don’t give, you don’t truly receive. If you don’t give, the things that you do receive are not fulfilling and only temporary.  I am really surprised by people who feel that they are always entitled to something but don’t ever think about what they can contribute.

I try to teach my kids about the principle of giving and making a contribution.  I feel as though I’ve raised my kids to be grateful and humble.  My kids get what they want but they share with others.  I decided that I want to show them how to get more involved with the community. My mom does so good with that. She’s been preparing to start an orphanage and already has the land. Her heart aches for anyone that is less fortunate. I had a friend that was about to get kicked out of her home and my mom paid her mortgage. We would go to Belize and people would ask are you guys moving to Belize and I would say, “No!”. They wanted her to be around because when she would get there she would have a package for everyone of my family members and one for the kids that didn’t have much and the adults too. She would come home with nothing and I mean no jewelry, clothing, shoes, nothing. Just the clothing on her back. To me this is honorable and a perfect example of giving.

I’m saying all of this because I need to do more in the world as all of us should. We all need to stop focusing so much on how much more we want and what we can get. Instead, we should spend  time focusing on what kind of difference we are making in the lives of others. It is a special reward in taking the focus off of you and making someone smile or feel more comfortable.  A great reward!
Tip of the day: Do good and blessings shall follow!
Wanted to show you guys this beautiful dress I wore to the bride’s masquerade party a couple weeks ago. The colors were perfect! We had a blast.

  1. Oh darling you look amazing!
The dress and heels are both gorgeous!

And the way you feel about skipping church is exactly how I feel when I miss yoga!

  2. This post is insprational in so many ways. The dress is pretty, the heels are bangin', and I'm gonna have to try that design or something like it in my next mani. The points you made about giving hit home. I get caught up in the act of giving just to say that I gave. My intentions are always honorable in the beginning but it's easy to get complacent and not think of new ways to give. I wish your mom luck with her new orphange and hope that it is 10x what she has been dreaming of.

  3. as always beautiful and i love the colors. I truly believe in this post. Alot of people give but they give only to receive something in return. My only problem is I give, care and put people first alot and expect them to do the same. In which most cases im always sadden and disappointed because its never like that. thanks for the words of wisdom

    love you much

  4. You look absolutely terrific. Everything is so well co ordinated! Love it.

You Mom sounds like a wonderful person, no wonder you are who you are! You had a great example in life to follow. You are right we all need to give back … give and you shall receive more. My father is the same. He has helped so many people. He provides jobs, housing, clothes and food for so many people and without anything in return. He is so generous. He has absolutely no materialist desires. He earns for his family and does what he can for society. I wish to be like him!

    Great Post as always, Tanya!

  5. When it comes to our children I think its very important to show them everything it not handed to you because you want it. They should know how many children dont have anything! This is why when I have birthday parties for my children I ask that people come and share in the day because they have so much and I dont want them to think a party means gifts. The world needs more people like CAROL!!!! she can put a smile on someones face even in the darkest of times….if she could give you blood she would…if she could give you her heart she would….Love you mom love to tanya…keep up the good work and many blessings to your home!!!!

The party was good cake was ummy too. Hot purse and shoes smokin babe.

  8. Well said pumpkin! I always tell people that you may be doing bad, but someone else may be worse off! There are so many people who would appreciate the smallest donation (does not have to be monetary) from your heart! Now lets get to this Colorful outfit. As usual, you are doin it BIG! Love everything: the dress, shoes, purse and of course, most of all…the young lady in it! Smooches

  11. That dress is sick! Very masqueradish. You have something for everything! I love it. BUT, I would like to see the back better. It looks like the back has a fly design but I can't see it all the way. Luv those shoes and the gucci clutch is killer! Your hair is beautiful as usual.

As for the post, I am so glad that you are letting everyone know. Some people are so selfish. I am very happy that I am a giver. Being a giver is truly a blessing. It comes with great sacrifice and sometimes heartache because sometimes the "takers" attack and can be vicious. But, overall it is a true blessing to be a giver because no matter how much they take, God just keeps on blessin you and blessin you and blessin you….

And it feels good to be a blessing to those that are truly in need and truly appreciate the gift.

    Blessings ya'll!
