friendship
A lesson I learned in business.
When owning your own business you have to learn not to mix business with pleasure. This is where I screwed up when I owned my salon. Most of my employees that worked there were friends of mine and most of them are no longer my friends due to mixing the two.
I’m not saying that you can’t hire your friend, but you just need to  be professional at all times and make sure to not show favoritism when it comes to certain things that can or can’t be done.  You may be the person in charge but you still  have to lead by example. Make sure to tell your friend that you are running a business and business relationship and a friendship are two totally different entities. You have to distinguish the difference seeing that sometimes you can find yourself giving preferential treatment to your friend and your other employes will notice. Learning from past experiences is key to anything in life.
For my future business endeavors I now know to always draw the line between a friendship and business relationship.

  1. Isn't that the truth. It can be bad on both sides. You also may not like your friend's way of doing business and see them in a completely different light. You're right… it just shouldn't mix.

Love the dress and the sandals!

  2. OMG sis I really miss you. I drove by the shop the other day. What you said is very true and being the sweet person that you are people including frineds like to take advantage and thats not fair to you at all. But no matter where your new bussiness endeavirs take you I will be here to support you in any way I can.
You look great love you and hope to see you soon!

  3. You are so right. I have a strained friendship now bc I offered free consulting to a friend but now they expect it to be free all the time. I can't run a business that way. Great post and darling dress. I hope to find a one shoulder piece soon.

  4. This is so true. I have been on both sides of this issue and it is never a good thing. I have worked for my father and it was miserable becuase he would talk to me about work even at inappropriate times (thanksgiving dinner) And I have stuck my neck out to get a friend a job or even hired a friend at a company where I worked as a manager and it was a disaster. Very true. Cute dress and clutch!!! Keep the amazing messages and fashion coming 🙂

  5. This really good advice. I have been taken advantage of so many times when I use my business and profession to help a friend.

  6. OMG! I love this polka dot dress and of course you have my favorite stilletos on! Looking Hott Lady T, just Gorgeous!
